To date (7/2/14), a measles outbreak originating in Knox County has expanded into an nine county area (Ashland, Coshocton, Crawford, Highland, Holmes, Knox, Richland, Stark, and Wayne) in which the confirmed case numbers have been gradually increasing. Current count is 369 confirmed cases. Currently, the jurisdictions of Ashland, Coshocton, Holmes, Knox, Richland, and Wayne are addressing the issue on a multi-regional/state level. Local, State and Federal assets have been activated/deployed to assist in response operations. Vaccination remains to be the most effective way to prevent the disease.
