The Service Department staff will be conducting a clean up at Mifflin (155 Olde Ridenour Rd., Gahanna, OH) and Riverside (3840 Sunbury Rd., Columbus, OH) cemeteries the week of July 11 to remove artificial flower arrangements NOT SECURED to headstones.

Due to strong summer storms, and the need to cut grass and maintain the property, artificial arrangements are not allowed after March 15.

“Recently, the number of artificial and silk arrangements blowing from headstones has been a real challenge for our workers cutting grass, weeding, setting stones and other maintenance projects on the grounds. We decided it was time to conduct a comprehensive clean up to eliminate the arrangements that do not meet the posted rules and regulations,” said Service Director Roger Boggs.

Live plantings near the base of the headstone are encouraged from March 15-November 15. If cemetery visitors have artificial arrangements they would like to save for the winter, they are encouraged to take them home until November 15 when they are allowed on the graves for the winter.
