Stormwater Management Program
2009 – 2013

Accepting comments through December 31, 2010

The Franklin County Executive Stormwater Committee has released the 2009-2013 Unincorporated Franklin County and Townships Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) and is accepting comments through Dec. 31, 2010. The program lays out a 5-year plan to address six minimum control measures that target Stormwater pollution from the county's municipal separate storm water system (MS4). The program is required, in order to be covered under the statewide MS4 permit issued by Ohio EPA, to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, which is under the Clean Water Act amendments.

The plan to decrease Stormwater pollution is meant to be adaptive, so that yearly reports on progress and public feedback can spur alterations to the program to improve outcomes. The Executive Committee encourages townships to post the SWMP on the websites and solicit comments from their residents. The coverage of the SWMP is for unincorporated Franklin County with responsibilities shared among townships and Franklin County agencies, such as the County Engineer's office, Board of Health, and Franklin Soil and Water.
