Fire Hydrant Flushing

Fire hydrant flushing will occur in the unincorporated areas of Mifflin Township between May 27th and June 27th. This is for preventative maintenance and to ensure the hydrants are working properly. During this process, firefighters will open hydrants and temporarily let water flow from them. While this occurs, you may notice low water pressure and a brief discoloration of the water in your home. If discoloration occurs, run your water for about one minute, after which time the discoloration should disappear. You should refrain from drinking discolored water or doing laundry with it. We recommend briefly running your laundry machine before putting clothes in it to ensure the water is running as normal.
