Search Has Resumed for Missing Teen Seen Entering Big Walnut Creek Early This Morning

The Mifflin Township Division of Fire has resumed the search, which had been suspended overnight, for a 17-year-old male in the area of Academy Park in Gahanna.

According to a witness, late Monday evening, the male left the residence on foot and was observed walking into Big Walnut Creek near Nob Hill Drive and was unable to be located.

During the night, emergency personnel conducted a search on foot near both banks of the creek and the surrounding area. A Columbus Police helicopter and Gahanna Police drone were utilized but were unable to locate the individual. Due to incoming weather, the search was suspended at approximately 3 a.m.

The initial dispatch to Gahanna Division of Police came in at 11:51 p.m. Mifflin Township Division of Fire is working in coordination with Gahanna Police Department, Columbus Police and Fire Departments.

Trails along the Big Walnut Creek have been closed in the area where the search is being conducted. The public is urged to stay clear from the area to allow emergency personnel to conduct the search and to avoid the dangerously high water in the area.
