To honor our veterans this Memorial Day May 25, 2026, the VFW Tri Community Post 4719 and American Legion Post 797 will hold services at four cemeteries, the bridge at Creekside and the Veterans Memorial Park, both in Gahanna.
The combined Honor Guard will begin at 9am at Riverside Cemetery. It will than travel to, Maplewood Cemetery, in New Albany, for a memorial service at 945am. Music will be provided by the New Albany High School Band under the direction of Brian Coon. A pastor from the Church of the Resurrection will provide the blessing.
The third stop will be Jefferson Cemetery in Blacklick at 1045am. Music will be provided by the Gahanna Lincoln High School Band under the direction of Rob Cebriak. The blessing will be provided by TBA.
To honor service members lost at sea, there will be a wreath laying ceremony at 1145am from the bridge at Creekside to the water below. The Honor Guard will then move to Mifflin Cemetery at 1215pm for another service. Again, the Gahanna Lincoln High School Band will provide the music. Deacon Joe Meyer from St Matthew Church will provide the blessing.
The final stop is the Veterans Memorial Park in Gahanna at 1pm. All veterans, their families and friends are invited to join VFW Post 4719 and American Legion Post 797 Honor Guard honoring our fallen veterans this Memorial Day. For more information contact Commander Bill Pederson 614-506-5793.
